Using advanced code mapping for quality data integration

The Advanced code mapping feature allows you to map columns from a spreadsheet with more specificity than when uploading via the Data Integration page. This can be helpful when uploading patient vitals data or if you know which code system matches the data in a given column.

All codes MIPSpro can recognize belong to specific code systems. These systems sometimes conflict with one another if MIPSpro isn't told which code belongs to which system. If you're uploading a spreadsheet with codes from multiple systems — LOINC and SNOMED, for instance — you should use the advanced code mapping feature.

Using advanced code mapping

To use this feature with spreadsheets, create a spreadsheet with each code type in a different column. You can also load one spreadsheet with all of one code type and additional spreadsheets with other code types. If you load separate spreadsheets, MIPSpro will combine them into appropriate patient visits as long as you include the patient ID and DOS in all spreadsheets.

To use this feature manually, select the code type from the drop-down list for the appropriate column.

MIPSpro can automatically map the code to the correct column if the column in your spreadsheet has a name MIPSpro can recognize:

You can also use this feature to delete specific codes from a visit.

  1. Upload a spreadsheet containing the patient ID, date of service, and code you wish to remove.
  2. Map the column containing the code you wish to remove to the appropriate Delete Code label.

You can use this process for multiple patients.

Using patient vitals data

Some measures use patient vitals data instead of codes for denominator or numerator criteria. Some examples of patient vitals MIPSpro can track are A1c, BMI, height, and weight.

To upload patient vitals data, your spreadsheet should include each vital type in its column. Select the matching vital type in the mapping drop-down.

MIPSpro can automatically map to the correct column if the column in your spreadsheet has a name MIPSpro can recognize:

MIPSpro limits inputs for some patient vital types. For example, MIPSpro won't record data for a patient’s A1c beyond the 2nd decimal point. This also applies to other patient vitals.

Patient vitals should also follow standard formatting. Check your spreadsheet to ensure data matches the standard formatting for measurements.
