Enter data for the Promoting Interoperability performance category

To receive a Promoting Interoperability score for the 2024 performance year, you need to meet the following requirements:

  • Report for a minimum of 180 consecutive days using an EHR that meets the certification criteria at 45 CFR 170.315. This is to align with the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC)’s current and future regulation.
  • Attest Yes to completing the Security Risk Analysis and SAFER Guides measures during the performance year.
  • Enter the numerator and denominator (or claim an exclusion, if applicable) for the PI Health Information Exchange (HIE) measure(s) you choose.
  • Enter the numerator and denominator for 3 other measures:
    • PI_EP_1 e-Prescribing
    • PI_EP_2 Query of Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP)
    • PI_PEA_1 Provide Patients Electronic Access to Their Health Information

Note for DrChrono users

DrChrono doesn’t send your PI data to MIPSpro through the integration. Access DrChrono’s PI dashboard to obtain the PI data you need to enter into the Track Measures section of MIPSpro.

Reference the DrChrono PI guide for more details.

Note for Flatiron users

Flatiron can send 100% of your PI data for all measures except for the Security Risk Analysis, bonus measures, and elective measures associated with the public health and clinical data exchange objectives.

Flatiron can send your first data upload for PI 1-2 weeks after you’ve signed the BAA and waiver in the MIPSpro profile. All additional data transfers to MIPSpro typically occur at the beginning of each business week.

    • HIE_5 is an attestation measure. It's all or nothing. If you meet all the criteria for HIE_5, then all the points for the measure are applied. If you don’t meet even 1 criteria, then 0 points are applied.
    • HIE_6 is also an attestation measure. It's all or nothing. If you meet all the criteria, then all the points for the measure are applied. If you don’t meet even 1 criteria, then 0 points are applied.

4. For group reporting, choose an NPI Tracking Option.

  • NPI: Group practices can enter and track data on the individual NPI level. This requires you to provide data for every measure for each NPI.
  • Practice: Choose the Practice tracking option to track PI data on the group level. This will allow you to report 1 group score for PI, and you won’t be required to track data on the NPI level.
