Use the Quality Points page to review measure performance

The Quality Points page displays the point value for each measure you've selected. We provide 2 ways to view your Quality category points.

1. The Actual Quality Points view displays the estimated Quality category points you would receive if you submitted to CMS today. This estimate factors in CMS reporting rules and ensures that each measure has at least 20 instances and meets the 75% completion threshold requirement for the current performance year.

2. The Predicted Quality Points view estimates your Quality category points by measure performance only based on the data you've entered into MIPSpro. It doesn't apply CMS reporting rules.

Frequently asked questions

Question: I see that I have a high-performance rate and “met performance” for almost all patients and visits.  Why is my “points based on performance score” only 3?

Answer: Several factors may contribute to a score of 3:

  • Minimum case number. Each measure must meet the minimum case volume of 20 eligible instances to be scored against the benchmark. If you have fewer than 20 eligible instances for a measure, then the measure will only be eligible for 3 points if you're in a small practice and 0 points if you're in a large practice.
  • Inverse measures. Make sure you're reading your performance correctly for an inverse measure. A lower raw performance (as close to 0 as possible) is better for inverse measures.
  • Benchmarks. If a measure doesn't have a benchmark, you'll receive 0 points as a large practice and 3 points as a small practice.

Q: Why are my actual points lower than my predicted points?

A: Several factors may cause you to see fewer actual points than predicted points:

  • Fewer than eligible 20 instances. Review the 20 Instances column to see if any measures have fewer than 20 instances.
  • Failure to meet the completion threshold. Review the Completion Threshold column to see if any measures are below the 75% needed for the current performance year. If so, you can review and complete your incompletes using our Gaps in Care Report.
  • Performance rate. Sometimes a measure has low points due to a low-performance rate. Click the measure description to see the total possible point value benchmark breakdown.
